Sanity Sunday- Classical Mandolin Pieces Played by Avi Avital

by Nomad

Another summer is upon us. This year, summer has brought hope that normalcy - whatever that means- would finally emerge. After four desperate years of Trump, I am not even sure I would recognize normalcy if it tapped me on the shoulder.

In any event, I thought I would offer you all a Sunday sanity break. Something light but classy and what could be more classy than classics?

Meet Avi Avital
Born in the Israeli city of Be'er Sheva in 1978, mandolinist Avi Avital showed exceptional musical ability at an early age. By the time he was eight, he was performing with a local orchestra. He studied at both the Jerusalem Academy of Music and the Cesare Pollini Conservatory of Music in Padua, Italy.
He has performed at Carnegie Hall and the Lincoln Center in New York, the National Centre for the Performing Arts, the Berlin Philharmonie as well as the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing.

Here, Avi plays four classical works by the undisputed masters. Enjoy!

Mandolin Concerto in C Major by Vivaldi

Violin Sonata in E minor by Mozart

Gigue from second partita in D minor by Bach

Andante and Variations for Mandolin by Beethoven

Have a great Sunday, folks.
