At Nomadic Politics, we always encourage our readers to discuss the content, with comments or on Twitter, Facebook, in forums and on other blogs.
The quality of a blog is usually determined by the quality of discourse it provides and the community that exists there.
Civil discussion, however, requires a few general guidelines.
The quality of a blog is usually determined by the quality of discourse it provides and the community that exists there.
Civil discussion, however, requires a few general guidelines.
- Discussions should be based on mutual respect even for opinions different from your own.
- Try asking questions instead of jumping to conclusions. Knee-jerk contradictions for the sake of being contrary tends to spoil open discussion.
- Comments which are deliberately offensive or spamming, repetitive or otherwise troll-like will likely be removed. This includes remarks that are unlawful, threatening, abusive, libelous, defamatory, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, profane, indecent or berating.
- If you are unable to speak/write without insulting language, please think twice before commenting. Your comments will probably be removed and you are likely to be banned altogether.
- If a commenter chooses to engage in unnecessary, inappropriate name-calling, he or she will be banned from the site permanently and immediately.
- Likewise, there will be zero tolerance for insults of a religious, sexual, racial, gender or ethnic nature to both the writers and the visitors to the site.
- As a rule of thumb, think of this site as if it were a stranger's home, where you may meet new people, share your thoughts and listen to others. Remember that your wit may not transfer so well in printed form. It's best to refrain if there's doubt that your remark could be misinterpreted.
Thanks so much in advance for your compliance.
