Queen Elizabeth II - The End of an Era

At the age of 96, Elizabeth II has died peacefully at her castle in Balmoral, Scotland.

Following the death of her father, King George VI, Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was crowned Queen Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953, in Westminster Abbey, at the age of 25.

 

She served as Queen for 70 years and 214 days, the longest of any British monarch and the longest recorded of any female head of state.
